Delivering a First-Class Chauffeur Experience at The Open Championship 2026

Luxury chauffeur vehicle from Amethyst Chauffeurs transporting VIP guests during The Open Championship 2026 between the Titanic Hotel Liverpool and Royal Birkdale Golf Club.

Supporting One of The Open’s Major Sponsors from Start to Finish

The 154th Open Championship brought the world’s attention back to Royal Birkdale on the beautiful Sefton coastline, welcoming the biggest names in golf and thousands of visitors from across the globe. While the players battled it out for the famous Claret Jug, there was a huge team working behind the scenes to ensure the week ran smoothly.

At Amethyst Chauffeurs, we were incredibly proud to be one of the transport providers for one of The Open Championship’s major sponsors. Our responsibility was to look after their team and guests throughout the week, delivering a luxury chauffeur experience from the moment they landed in the UK until the day they returned home.

Whether it was airport transfers, executive travel, daily journeys to the golf course, restaurant reservations or sightseeing around Liverpool, every detail was carefully planned to ensure our guests experienced the very best service from start to finish.

Luxury Accommodation at the Historic Titanic Hotel Liverpool

Titanic Hotel Liverpool

Our guests were based at the magnificent Titanic Hotel Liverpool, one of the city’s most distinctive luxury hotels.

Situated within Stanley Dock, the Titanic Hotel occupies a beautifully restored nineteenth-century warehouse that once formed part of Liverpool’s thriving maritime industry. The building has retained much of its original character, with exposed brickwork, cast iron columns and impressive vaulted ceilings creating a unique atmosphere that perfectly combines Liverpool’s industrial heritage with modern luxury.

Today, the hotel is recognised as one of Liverpool’s premier destinations for corporate guests, international visitors and VIP clients. Spacious bedrooms, exceptional dining, the stylish Rum Bar and the award-winning Maya Blue Wellness Spa made it the ideal place for our guests to relax after busy days at The Open.

Its location also meant guests were only a short journey from Liverpool city centre whilst remaining perfectly placed for daily travel to Royal Birkdale.

Every morning our chauffeurs collected guests from the hotel, ensuring they travelled in complete comfort before arriving at one of golf’s most iconic venues.

Experiencing the Best of Liverpool

Although golf was the main attraction, we wanted our guests to experience everything Liverpool has to offer.

Throughout the week, we chauffeured them to some of the city’s finest restaurants, including Gaucho Liverpool and Fogo de Chão, where they enjoyed exceptional food, outstanding hospitality and a chance to unwind after long days at the championship.

As a Liverpool-based chauffeur company, there’s nothing we enjoy more than showcasing our city. From the historic waterfront and Albert Dock to its world-famous music heritage, incredible restaurants and vibrant atmosphere, Liverpool always leaves a lasting impression on visitors.

A Round at Hesketh Golf Club

Hole 14 – Hesketh Golf Club

Before the championship began, our guests also enjoyed a memorable visit to Hesketh Golf Club, one of England’s oldest and most respected links golf courses.

Founded in 1885, Hesketh Golf Club has earned a fantastic reputation amongst golfers for its traditional links layout, natural dunes and beautifully maintained fairways. Located just a few miles from Royal Birkdale, the course provides a true test of golf, with fast-running greens and challenging coastal winds demanding accuracy and strategic course management.

Over the years, Hesketh has hosted numerous prestigious amateur championships and continues to attract golfers from across the UK and overseas who appreciate its rich history and outstanding playing conditions.

It was the perfect way for our guests to experience authentic links golf before attending one of the sport’s biggest events.

Daily Chauffeur Transport to Royal Birkdale

Every day our operation centred around transporting guests between the Titanic Hotel Liverpool and Royal Birkdale Golf Club.

Founded in 1889, Royal Birkdale is widely regarded as one of the finest championship golf courses in the world. Having hosted The Open Championship on numerous occasions, along with Ryder Cups, Walker Cups and countless other prestigious tournaments, it has firmly established itself as one of golf’s most iconic venues.

Unlike many traditional links courses, Royal Birkdale is famous for its towering sand dunes that create natural corridors throughout the course, offering spectacular views whilst presenting a unique challenge to the world’s best golfers. Combined with the ever-changing winds blowing in from the Irish Sea, every round demands exceptional skill, patience and precision.

Hosting The Open is no small task. With tens of thousands of spectators attending each day, extensive security measures and carefully managed road closures, meticulous planning was essential.

Thanks to the experience of our chauffeurs and detailed logistical planning, every guest arrived on time, every journey ran smoothly and our clients were able to enjoy the championship without worrying about transport.

Ryan Fox Writes His Name into Golfing History

Ryan Fox Chokes Back Tears During Emotional Family FaceTime After The Open Victory - Yahoo Sports

The week concluded with a fantastic finale as New Zealand’s Ryan Fox lifted the famous Claret Jug to become Champion Golfer of the Year.

Fox secured his first major championship with a composed and determined performance around Royal Birkdale, holding his nerve when it mattered most to edge out a world-class field. His victory was widely celebrated throughout the golfing world and marked the biggest achievement of his professional career.

Born in Auckland, Ryan comes from one of New Zealand’s most successful sporting families. His father, Grant Fox, was one of the country’s greatest rugby players and played a key role in the All Blacks’ 1987 Rugby World Cup victory, whilst his grandfather, Merv Wallace, captained the New Zealand cricket team.

Despite growing up surrounded by sporting excellence, Ryan forged his own path in golf. Before winning The Open, he had already enjoyed tremendous success on both the DP World Tour and the PGA Tour, earning a reputation as one of the longest hitters in professional golf. His powerful driving, fearless style of play and ability to perform on links courses made him a genuine contender whenever The Open returned to Britain’s coastline.

Winning at Royal Birkdale wasn’t simply another tournament victory; it cemented his place amongst the very best golfers in the world and added his name to one of the most prestigious trophies in sport.

For everyone fortunate enough to witness the final day, it was another unforgettable chapter in the rich history of The Open Championship.

A Huge Thank You to an Incredible Team

Events of this scale simply don’t happen without teamwork.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to all of the lads we had the pleasure of working alongside throughout the week. Every driver showed outstanding professionalism, flexibility and dedication despite the long days, early starts and constantly changing schedules.

It’s something we’re incredibly proud of. Liverpool is home to some exceptional chauffeur companies and drivers, and we’ve built fantastic relationships over the years with people who genuinely care about delivering first-class service.

We honestly believe we’ve got the best circle of drivers anywhere in the city, and working together during major international events like The Open shows exactly why. Everyone pulled together with one goal – ensuring every guest enjoyed a seamless, luxury experience from beginning to end.
